CO2 emissions

• More than 30 billion tonnes of CO2 are emitted globally each year by burning fossil fuels
• Average global temperatures may rise between 1.1C and 6.5C above 1990 levels by the end of this century
• In the UK climatologists predict more extreme weather patterns.  More storms, more rainfall and higher average temperatures
• To meet its 2020 renewable energy targets and legally binding emission reduction commitments, the UK will need to rapidly develop renewable energy of which solar plays a key role
